Door County’s only authentic swing band will take you on a journey back to the 1930's and 40’s.  Enjoy the music of Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and others, along with the harmonious sounds of the Company B singers performing songs made popular by the Andrew Sisters and more.  Proceeds will benefit Door County charities and scholarships for area music students.

BUG Fire Department Car & Motor Show

The B.U.G. fire department is beginning the yearly fundraising process. We are grateful for the success of our car and motor show in the past, and we are excited to see what the 5th year brings. The event brings the surrounding communities and locals together for a wonderful and nostalgic day spent together. The car and motor show supports the growth of improvement to the fire service for the Brussels, Union and Gardner community.

Cemetary Blessing & Display Dedication

Cemetary Blessing & Display Dedication

BHC, together with St. Francis and St. Mary Parish, will host a dedication of the new display honoring those buried at the historic cemetery adjacent to BHC. The new display area features an exhibit explaining the cemetery’s history, a listing of almost 200 people buried between 1860 and 1911 and a contemplative patio area featuring four memorial benches. This special event will begin with mass with Fr. Antonio Rex Palaya at St. Francis and St. Mary Church in Brussels at 8:00, followed by a blessing by Fr. Anthony Biredsall at the cemetery at 9:15. BHC will host an open house with refreshments and a brief talk about the history of the cemetery and the extensive research to identify those with no surviving grave marker. A photo display of the people buried in the old cemetery will also be featured. A full list of the known burials can be found at the PDF link below.

Renee Vaughn, Nyckelharpa Player

Join us on May 2 at 10:00 for a unique musical performance. Renee Vaughan is a nyckelharpa player whose great-great-grandparents were Walloon and immigrated from Hachy, Belgium, to Wisconsin in 1856. Renee will share this history alongside traditional tunes from both Sweden and Walloon areas in Belgium. A nyckelharpa (“keyed fiddle”) is a traditional Swedish string instrument. BHC will be open on May 2 from 9:00 until noon for this event and tours of the campus.

BHC will host a cooyah tournament on Sunday, April 26 starting at 2:00. All skill levels welcome including beginners! Beer, cocktails and other refreshments will be available for purchase.
